Sangeet Paul Choudary is an Indian entrepreneur, advisor, and business author. He is best known for his work on platform economics and network effects. He is the co-author of the book Platform Revolution: How Networked Markets Are Transforming the Economy and How to Make Them Work for You. Choudary's work on platform economics was selected as one of the top 10 management ideas globally by the Harvard Business Review, and included in the collection HBR's 10 Must Reads 2017. In 2017, Choudary was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.

Career

Choudary is the author of several books, including Platform Revolution: How Networked Markets Are Transforming the Economy and How to Make Them Work for You. Platform Revolution was ranked an international best-seller by 800CEOREAD and a must-read business book for 2016 by Forbes.

In 2015, Choudary wrote the book Platform Scale: How an emerging business model helps startups build large empires with minimum investment. In 2016, Choudary co-authored the article "Pipelines, Platforms, and the New Rules of Strategy" in the April 2016 edition of the Harvard Business Review. This article was subsequently selected as one of the top 10 management ideas for the year 2017, and included in the collection HBR's 10 Must Reads 2017.

Choudary's keynote appearances include the G20 Summit 2014, the International Labor Organization (ILO), the Mobile World Congress, the Australian Financial Review Summit, SIBOS, and the World Economic Forum. He is the co-chair of the MIT Platform Strategy Summit at the MIT Media Labs. He has also been an expert commentator on national television and Forbes webinars. Choudary has been a keynote speaker for technology brands including Microsoft, AT&T, Autodesk, and Huawei.

In 2017, Choudary was selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, a selection of the top 100 most innovative and enterprising men and women globally under the age of 40. He is a member of the World Economic Forum's Global Future Council on Platforms and Systems.

In 2015, Choudary was ranked among the top 50 business thinkers of Indian origin by Thinkers50. In 2016, he was ranked among the top 30 management thinkers globally most likely to shape the future of how organizations are managed and led, in the inaugural ranking of Thinkers50 Radar. In 2017, he was also selected as one of the 50 thinkers included in the compilation Dear CEO by Thinkers50.

Choudary's work on platforms has been featured on the covers of the Harvard Business Review and the MIT Technology Review. Choudary has been a sought after expert for research outlets including the World Economic Forum, the Economist, McKinsey & Company, and the European Parliament. He has been hailed as a 'global thought leader on the platform business model' by Forbes, a 'modern day evangelist of two-sided markets' by CIO.com, and a 'top global thinker' by the Huffington Post.

Choudary is an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the INSEAD Business School, and is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore. At the 2016 annual convocation of his alma mater, IIM Bangalore, Choudary received special mention during the convocation speech by chief guest Nandan Nilekani, for his work on platform models.

Choudary is appointed as an external expert on several Fortune 500 advisory boards, including the ING Bank's Global Innovation Council. He also serves as an industry fellow at the Centre for Global Enterprise, a New York - based think tank. Choudary has worked with governments and policy makers advising them on the regulation of platforms. He has worked with several governments in Europe to help them develop competitive and regulatory responses to global platforms entering Europe.
